If you scour the Internet you will be bombarded with tons of e-books, websites, videos and everything under the sun claiming that they are the next great thing to help you level up in Farmville. These are the get rich quick schemes of us desperate farmers trying to get to that darn Villa sometime this century.
The truth is most of these guides have somewhat similar material. Much of the material is available on the Internet somewhere, but you have to scour and wade through a bunch of junk to find some of the true gems of data. We’ve included quite a few gems on our blog, but the guidebooks are very thorough.
Instead of giving you my biased opinion on what I think is the best strategy guide for your hard earned dollar should be I’ve decided to reveal the promotion figures of the top 7 Farmville guides available for purchase.
The ranking number is from a site that acts as a distributor of digital content for all of these e-books. The idea is that the larger the number the better. It means more people are finding this guide useful to promote and sell. You will notice that Farmville Secrets is the big daddy guide that is generating tons of momentum compared to all of the other products.
As more data is released we will continue to update stats. The other good thing about all of these guide books is that they have a money back guarantee which is great. If you think it stinks you can simply e-mail and get your money back.
This is a really cool effect if you want to make your farm look fantastic. Follow the instructions in the video and your Farmville farm will look really cool.
As my farm started to get bigger and bigger the amount of time it took to maintain and harvest crops was getting ridiculous. If you have a 20×20 farm that could be 400 clicks to plow, 400 to seed and 400 to harvest. 1,200 clicks can be really boring and more like work instead of fun. With grid clicker you can do the same task in a matter of minutes.
I used to prefer planting items that would take a full day to grow because it was so time consuming to plant everything. Now I don’t mind doing items that harvest sooner as I can rack up more XP points since it takes just a few minutes to do the planting task.
If you have money to burn and want to rack up XP fast you can do a slash and burn mission on your crops. The grid clicker has a feature that can auto accept a delete command. A key feature of the games is that XP is given when you plant your crop not when you harvest. This allows you to
Plow
Plant
Delete
Repeat
You don’t actually wait for the harvest time to complete. You let grid clicker accept all the message boxes asking you if you want to delete and replant for more XP. You can’t use this strategy forever as you would run out of coins, but if you have been stockpiling it is a quick way to gain XP. I will see it is a little tricky getting the grid to line up again for the plowling phase.
Sometimes you are just a few XP points away from the next level which will give you some awesome seeds. You don’t want to plant anything because you want to use the latest and greatest seeds which are available on the next level. If you have some extra cash to burn you can buy some decorations that yield XP. One of the best is to use the basic Hay bale. It will cost you 100 coins, but give you 5 xp. That’s 20 coins per XP which isn’t too bad. When you are done you can sell the hay bale back for 5 coins, which stinks but oh well.
100 Hay Bales x 100 Coins a Piece = 10,000 Coins. It certainly isn’t cheap, but if you just need another 500 XP to get to the seed of your choice it just might be the best move.
If you have some additional time on you hands you can do this same move with the soybeans. Notice that you get 2 XP and the soybeans only cost 15. You will also have to plow the land so it will cost you an additional 15 to plow.
Plow (15) + SoyBean(15) = 30 coins for 3 XP or 10 coins per XP. This is half the cost of the Hay Bale move, but it is a bit slower because you have to plant, delete and then plow. If you are confused I’m not talking about waiting a full day for the soybeans to grow. You get the XP points as soon as you plant the soybeans, so you plant for XP then immediately tear up the ground. The task is a little time consuming, but if you need some XP and are a little tight on cash this is clearly the best move to make.
If you have never heard of Greasemonkey it is an add-in that is used in conjunction with Firefox. Greasemonkey is the engine and then all kinds of developers write scripts to interact with web pages.
That’s all you need to do to start using it. Specifically, you should get the Facebook mass accept script. This script will place a check box next to all of your gift requests. Once the script is active in Greasemonkey, you will see two buttons on the lower left part of your browser for checking all and accepting gifts. One time I had about 75 gifts pending because I was too lazy to click them, but the Greasemonkey script took care of it in no time flat.
Not spoiled, gifted. This is one of the early ribbons you can earn. It is easy to get and gives lots of cash to help you get your farm started.
Get Facebook Friends
Add as Neighbors in Farmville
Send Gifts to Your Neighbors
Accept Gifts
Use or Sell
There are also additional ribbons for getting neighbors so you are killing two birds with one stone. Later in the game you can also get points for helping neighbors and having neighbors help you.
The biggest problem you start to run into is that it is very time consuming to accept all of the gifts from your friends. By default, the game forces you to accept gifts one at a time. The solution is a Grease monkey script that does mass accepts. Full Details here.
Once you have a few dollars one of the first things you should do is buy some hay barrels and surround your farmer once s/he is in the middle of the screen. (This is the position he starts in every time when you begin the game. If you grow your farm this position may change). By surrounding your farmer in hay barrels, he will no longer walk around each position to harvest or plow the fields. This makes each harvest cycle go much faster.
Later in the game it makes it easier for your friends to fertilize your plants as your character will no longer walk around when they try to fertilize your plants.
There are certainly more detailed charts online covering all of the different animals, trees and other plants online relating to Farmville. The point in this chart is to give you a good understanding of the fundamental concepts you need to rapidly gain success in the game.
Crops must be harvested or they wither.
Trees and animals can be harvested at any time, but do not yield XP.
To advance in the game you must gain XP.
The item that this chart shows is the importance of time. You need to decide if you need cash, XP or a good mix of both and how much time you have in a given day to play Farmville.
Cost – Cost to plant 1 square
Rev – Revenue from one square
Harvest Hours – The amount of time it will take in hours for your plants to grow
Cost /w plow – You have to pay to plow the land before each seeding.
Net – The net profit after plowing and seeding.
Inventory Turns – This is the maximum harvest time for all plants divided by this plants harvest time. A way to compare which plant requires the least amount of work.
XP - XP given for plant.
Total- This is a multiplier to show the effect of 1 plant over 400 squares.
You will quickly notice that some plants have higher XP or cash over others even though they may take the same time to harvest. You may also notice if you had time to sit all day you could get more cash out of one type of plant because it takes less time to grow.
Even though sugar cane will give the most total profit in 24 hours if you have to work all day you may have a better net with peas. Continuing with this argument if you have to be gone for an extended period of time it is better to plant something that won’t wither in a day or two.
Additionally, more plants become available as you get more XP. You may want to sacrifice cash for something that gives off more XP.
The first thing that happens to every happy newbie on Farmville is that they plant their seeds and much to their surprise they come back a couple of days later and all of their crops withered into nothing. It is a hard lesson to learn, but in Farmville if you plant a crop you need to quickly harvest it close to the time it is done. This is particularly true of crops that can be harvested in short amounts of time. All you need to do is set yourself a reminder based on when you planted the crop. For those of you who like to be more scientific there is a grease monkey script that will calculate the exact time your crop is ready to harvest. If you have never heard of grease monkey don’t worry we will have more posts in the future explaining this feature and how to fully use it. It only becomes necessary on some of the advanced levels.
